Construction Stages
A shed is an essential structure for any backyard, allowing you to store gardening tools and equipment in order and safety. Our customer needed help installing a small shed in the backyard of his home in Georgetown, Texas.
The most important stage — Choosing the Location and Layout
When selecting a location for the shed, we considered its placement relative to the house and other structures on the property. The shed should be conveniently located to avoid interfering with future landscaping work and not shade the yard. In our project, the shed was placed to provide easy access to gardening tools and not disrupt the overall yard design.
Foundation Installation and Waterproofing
For a wooden shed, we often choose a post foundation. This allows you to significantly reduce costs compared to a full-fledged concrete foundation.
We use sturdy wooden supports, which are installed on a prepared base with waterproofing. This provides good stability and protection against moisture. In addition, we treat the wood with special preservatives to extend its service life.
To prevent grass from growing under the shed and puddles from forming, we lay a waterproofing film and fill everything with crushed stone.
Floor Installation
The shed's floor was made from sturdy OSB boards, which provide a reliable and perfectly level surface for storing gardening equipment and heavy lawn machinery on wheels.
Frame Assembly and Siding
The shed's frame was built from wooden lumber, allowing us to quickly erect the walls. For siding, we used high-quality finishing materials that provide protection from weather conditions and give the shed a neat appearance.
Roof and Door Installation
The roof was made from gray asphalt shingles, which not only provide reliable protection from precipitation but also give the shed a modern look. The doors were installed as double-hinged, white-colored, ensuring easy access to the interior space.
Exterior Design
The walls of the shed are painted in beige color, which harmonizes with the surrounding landscape. At the entrance we installed a ramp for easy transportation of garden tools on wheels.
Our project to build a wooden utility shed for a client in Georgetown, Texas turned out to be very functional and comfortable, and following the necessary technological processes will allow the structure to last for a long time.
